Last year, Without A Fight became the 12th horse in history to complete a Caulfield/Melbourne Cup winning double and after a long layoff, the son of Teofilo was good on return when third behind Via Sistina and Atishu in the Champions Stakes at Flemington.

He has won his only two second-up attempts for the Anthony & Sam Freedman stable, with the latest recorded over this distance when successful in the 2023 Caulfield Cup.

In a competitive market with Ladbrokes, Without A Fight is a $4 favourite to win the 2024 Hong Kong Vase.

Japanese visitors have won four out of the last four eight editions of the Hong Kong Vase and they have a leading chance this year with Stellenbosch ($4.50), a three-year-old who hasn't finished out of the money in seven starts.

Her highlight came in her 2024 return when taking out The Oka Sho, while she's placed in two appearances (both at Group 1 level) since that feature victory back in April.

Dubai Honour is a three-time Group 1 winner, with two of those victories coming over the 2023 Sydney Autumn Carnival and the William Haggas-trained galloper has been in the money once in three Hong Kong visits.

At $7, Dubai Honour shares the third line of betting with Giavellotto and the fellow English raider is in career best form, with back-to-back victories recorded before a third in the Group 1 Irish St Leger.

Hong Kong Vase Winners

The Hong Kong Vase is one of four Group 1's run at their International meeting, with the 2023 card to be contested at Sha Tin on Sunday, December 10.

Worth HK$24,000,000, which equates to just over AUD 4.6 million, the Hong Kong Vase dates back to 1994 and it was promoted to Group 1 status in 2000.

The Hong Kong staying ranks are generally thin, which has seen the overseas dominate this 2400m feature, with only three of the 29 winners prepared in Hong Kong.

Glory Vase (2021), Win Marilyn (2022) and Junko (2023) have won the last three editions of the Hong Kong Vase.
