Hong Kong Mile Tips 2020
Hong Kong Mile 2020 Best Bet - Golden Sixty
With 13 wins from 14 starts including a clean sweep of the four-year-old Classic Series which culminated in the 2020 Hong Kong Derby, this brilliant gelding has kept the sensational run going in season 2020/2021 with a winning hat-trick.
Following a brief scare via the Hong Kong Trophy, the son of Medaglia D'oro was back to his more dominant best on November 22 with a comfortable one and a half length win in the Jockey Club Mile when rounding them up with ease.
Barrier seven does suit Golden Sixty, as he will get clean air and likely angle towards the outside of his opposition late, which is when he's at his most dangerous and with even luck, it's hard to see what stops him this Sunday.
Hong Kong Mile 2020 Value Bet - Waikuku
The John Size-trained Waikuku has always been a little underrated and is one of the fresh local gallopers on the scene that hasn't been haunted by the popular short favourite so far.
In the first half of last season, this gelding was the leading miler in Hong Kong when getting the better of Ka Ying Star and Beauty Generation en-route to the 2019 Hong Kong Mile, where he was only narrowly denied by Admire Mars and arguably wins that edition with a kinder run in transit (drew wide).
He has trialled up well twice in readiness for this return and in what is perhaps a little set play here by Size with fresh legs for this target assignment (same pattern as Glorius Days who won this in 2013), is more than capable of being competitive under Joao Moreira from gate five.
