With 25 victories, Golden Sixty has the most wins of any horse since the professionalization of Hong Kong horse racing in 1971 and in the 2023 Hong Kong Mile, the veteran is aiming for Group 1 win number 11.

After finishing runner-up in the 2022 Hong Kong Mile, the eight-year-old is still looking to join Good Ba Ba as the only three-time winner of the Hong Kong Mile and the bookies in his corner to achieve that feat on Sunday, with BlueBet installing him as a $2.30 favourite to take out the 2023 Hong Kong Mile.

On the second line of betting is the John Size-trained Beauty Eternal ($6), a gelding who has won eight races and placed four times from 12 career starts.

Beauty Eternal hasn't been tested at Group 1 level, however, he has saluted in three of four tries in stakes company, which includes a last-start victory in the Group 2 Jockey Club Mile and that that November 19 affair is one of the main lead-ups to the Hong Kong Mile.

California Spangle ($7) upset Golden Sixty in last year's Hong Kong Mile and before a disappointing return in the Jockey Club Mile, he had been consistent throughout 2023, with the highlight for this year coming two starts back when saluting in the Group 2 Sha Tin Trophy.

The Hong Kong Mile is one of four Group 1's contested at their International program, with the 2023 meeting to be run at Sha Tin on Sunday, December 10.

Worth HK$30,000,000, which equates to just over AUD 5.7 million, the Hong Kong Mile dates back to 1991 and it was given Group 1 status in 2000, with that edition won by New Zealand champion, Sunline.

While international gallopers have taken out this event, the locals have mainly dominated the Hong Kong Mile in recent years, winning 16 of the last 20.

Golden Sixty (2020 and 2021) and California Spangle (2022) have won the last three editions of the Hong Kong Mile.
