The Golden Slipper market has flipped post the Magic Millions 2YO Classic, where Storm Boy justified favouritism with a tough 2.5-length win and he remained unbeaten from three attempts in the process.

Only three horses have completed the Magic Millions 2YO Classic/Golden Slipper winning double, with Capitalist (2016) the last horse to achieve it, although Storm Boy's Gold Coast victory did rate very well.

Prepared by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott, Storm Boy is one of only two runners currently at a single-figure quote with PlayUp, where $3 is the price for the 2024 Golden Slipper favourite.

Following a slick debut victory at Randwick on January 27, Switzerland ($7) has been a big recent firmer in the 2024 Golden Slipper market.

The same connections of Switzerland (Coolmore/Chris Waller) combined with Shinzo, who won last year's Golden Slipper.

The Waterhouse & Bott yard also trains Shangri La Express ($8), who has been one of the most impressive two-year-olds of the season to date.

The son of Alabama Express backed up a dominant debut win in the Kirkham Plate by stepping to 1100m and taking out the Golden Gift on November 11, and before Storm Boy's Gold Coast triumph, he was heading the Golden Slipper market.

Bodyguard ($15) was a debut winner at Flemington on October 7, taking out a juvenile affair that has produced two subsequent winners, including Dublin Down, who won the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate on Melbourne Cup Day.

Highness and High Octane are also on the fourth line of betting at $15.

Golden Slipper Winners

The Golden Slipper is Australia's most prestigious juvenile race and one of the world's best two-year-old events.

Worth $5 million, the Golden Slipper has seen some of the greatest two-year-olds in racing history take out the event en route to either a stud stint or a long career on the thoroughbred scene.

Run over 1200m at Rosehill Gardens, the Golden Slipper headlines one of the biggest days on the Australian racing calendar, with five Group 1's contested on the one program.

With seven Golden Slipper wins, Gai Waterhouse is the most successful trainer in Golden Slipper history and in 2020, she recorded her first Golden Slipper victory in partnership with Adrian Bott, with the pair preparing Farnan.

For the jockeys, Shane Dye and Ron Quinton share the record, with both hoops having ridden four Golden Slipper winners.

Stay Inside (2021), Fireburn (2022) and Shinzo (2023) have won the last three editions of the Golden Slipper.
