The 2023 Empire Rose Stakes market has been released with EliteBet, a fillies and mares Group 1 run over 1600m at Flemington on Derby Day.

While she's yet to land a Group 1 victory, Hope In Your Heart ($4.80) was one of the more consistent mares in Australia last season, having recorded three Group wins in that period, while she was Group 1 placed via the Queen Of The Turf.

Atishu ($5.50) won that Queen Of The Turf, while the six-year-old has also tasted success at Flemington, having won the Group 2 Matriarch Stakes last year, which followed a two-length defeat in the Empire Rose.

Chris Waller also prepares Princess Grace ($6), a mare who has been a little disappointing via her last two appearances, however, her early prep form from the Winx and Memsie Stakes reads superbly for this.

Wishlor Lass ($9) completed a hat-trick when taking out the Tesio Stakes on Cox Plate day and this will be her first Group 1 attempt should she accept on the seven-day turnaround.

Four-time European Group 1 winner Alcohol Free ($10) recorded easily her best run in Australia when fourth via The Invitation at Randwick last Saturday and the six-year-old is seemingly looking for 1600m now.

Life Lessons ($11) followed up from her second behind Amelia's Jewel to record an upset win over Princess Grace at Flemington last start, however, the daughter of Tavistock is yet to win past 1400m.

Empire Rose Stakes Winners

The Empire Rose Stakes has a relatively short history when inaugurated in 1988, with Concordance winning the first-ever running of the event.

Named after Empire Rose who completed the MacKinnion Stakes/Melbourne Cup double in 1988, the race is a coveted one in the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

It achieved Group 1 status in 2004 which has ensured much better fields taking to the track to compete for the $1 million prize pool.

Shout The Bar (2020), Colette (2021) and Icebath (2022) have won the last three editions of the Empire Rose Stakes.
