Champions Mile 2024 Betting Odds - Mr Brightside leads the early market
- Mr Brightside leads the 2024 Champions Mile odds at $3.50
- Fangirl and Antino are key contenders with odds at $4.20 and $5.50
- The Champions Mile is a prestigious 1600m race at the Melbourne Spring Carnival
While Mr Brightside has been competitive in his last two outings over longer distances via the Might And Power Stakes and Cox Plate, the seven-year-old is more effective when campaigning in the 1400m-1600m range (all 17 wins have been recorded over these trips).

The seven-time Group 1 winner brought up his last victory when successful in the Makybe Diva Stakes on September 14 and he fininshed second in the 2023 Champions Mile after contesting the Cox Plate a fortnight earlier.
Mr Brightside is favourite to win the 2024 Champions Mile, with $3.50 his quote via PlayUp
Fangirl ($4.20) finished fourth in this race last year as favourite and while she found winning touch second-up this prep when successful in the 7 Stakes, the six-year-old was a touch disappointing last start when sixth-of-eleven in the King Charles III Stakes.
She did win her only other start at Flemington and the daughter of Sebring also has two fourth-up victories to her name.
Antino ($5.50) couldn't have been more impressive when recording his first Group 1 win last start, with the Tony Gollan-trained galloper taking out the Toorak Handicap by 6.5-lengths.
Stepping back up to weight-for-age level is the main query for the Queensland visitor, although he has found winning form at the right time.

Registered as the Cantala Stakes, the Champions Mile is the premier 1600m contest of the Melbourne Spring Carnival and after being moved to Derby Day for six years, this feature is now back in its traditional slot via the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Run under weight-for-age conditions, this event was given Group 1 status in 1979 and with that, the race has strengthened in modern times and has become a genuine target assignment in the second week of November.
Superstorm (2021), Alligator Blood (2022) and Pride Of Jenni (2023) have won the last three editions of the Champions Mile.
