There are no standouts in the 2024 Caulfield Cup futures market with PlayUp, where Militarize currently heads the betting at $12.

The dual Group 1 winning two-year-old took out a third Group 1 when saluting in the Golden Rose back in September and while he didn't win in two subsequent Melbourne attempts, there was merit to both of the Caulfield Guineas and Cox Plate showings.

West Wind Blows opened his Australian account with a brave runner-up finish in the Turnbull Stakes, where the English-based galloper worked hard in a fast-run affair and that race produced the Cox Plate winner.

He was then narrowly defeated by Without A Fight in the Caulfield Cup before failing in the Champions Stakes on the final day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

At $14, West Wind Blows is on the second line of betting alongside Without A Fight, who won the Melbourne Cup in style following his Caulfield Cup triumph.

Although the seven-year-old features in both the Melbourne and Caulfield Cup futures market, it's unclear whether he'll go down a cup path in 2024 or target a Cox Plate via the weight-for-age route.

2022 Melbourne Cup winner Gold Trip shares a $16 quote with Tom Kitten, a Godolphin three-year-old who rounded his last prep in style with a dominant display in the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes.

Caulfield Cup Winners

Held annually on the third Saturday in October, the Caulfield Cup is the first of three majors contested over the Melbourne Spring Carnival and this $5 million dollar feature headlines the final day of three-day Caulfield Carnival,

Run over 2400m and under handicap conditions, the Caulfield Cup generally has a good mix of local and international entrants in the final field, with Australian, New Zealand, Japanese, French and English-based gallopers all among the recent winners.

With seven Caulfield Cup winners, the legendary Bart Cummings holds the training record in this Group 1 and with five victories, Scobie Breasley still leads the way for the jockeys.

Incentivise (2021), Durston (2022) and Without A Fight (2023) have won the last three editions of the Caulfield Cup.
