Despite still being a maiden runner, Steel City brings strong two-year-old form from Sydney, with the daughter of Merchant Navy recording runner-up finishes behind Golden Slipper fancies Learning To Fly and Red Resistance, who both won their next starts.

Prepared by the powerful Ciaron Maher & David Eustace training partnership, Steel City has been backed into favouritism for the 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes, with $5.50 available via Neds

Godolphin have won two of the last four editions of the Blue Diamond Stakes and they have a leading contender in 2023 with Barber ($6), an unbeaten colt that took out the Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G).

Arriving off a winning hat-trick and with tactical versatility, the son of Exceed And Excel should have his fair share of admirers.

Brave Halo ($8) started a well backed favourite in that Blue Diamond Prelude (C&G) and didn't have a great deal of luck in transit via that key lead-up event.

A Western Australian colt who was unbeten in three Perth starts, he could be the biggest improver from the Prelude.

Although Don Corleone ($9) was disappointing at start two, he was a $1.60 chance in that Pierro Plate following an impressive debut victory.
