Although unproven at 1600m, Jacquinot is the clear class runner in the 2023 Australian Guineas, with the son of Rubick now back against his own age group after a Group 1 win in the CF Orr Stakes.

Undefeated from two efforts this campaign, this three-year-old has shown his versatility over 1200m and 1400m, proving equally as effective at either trip.

A $3.20 market elect via BlueBet, Jacquinot is a clear favourite, with Legarto ($7) on the second line of betting, a New Zealand galloper that won her first five starts before an unlucky fourth Karaka Millions 3yo Classic.

The exciting kiwi filly is likely to be partnered by Michael Dee, who is arguably the most improved rider in Melbourne this season.

After being twice Group 1 placed last spring, Elliptical ($8) got his first black-type victory on the board with a first-up win in the CS Hayes, which is a traditional lead-up to the Australian Guineas

Attrition was luckless in that same event and that performance came off the back of two very impressive summer wins to open at campaign.

At $11, he shares the fourth line of betting with See You In Heaven, who won the Sandown Guineas over this trip deep into her spring prep and now third-up, she looks set to peak.

Australian Guineas Winners

The Australian Guineas is Melbourne's premier three-year-old race of the autumn carnival, with this Group 1 contested over the mile at Flemington.

It's a relatively new race on the Australian calendar, gaining Group 1 status one year after its inception in 1986 and the race was known as the Australasian Guineas until 2004.

Despite its rather short history, The Australian Guineas has a strong honour roll, with Zabeel, Mahogany, Reset, Apache Cat, Miss Finland, Mystic Journey and Alligator Blood among the famous winners of this feature.

Alligator Blood (2020), Lunar Fox (2021) and Hitotsu (2022) have won the last three editions of the Australian Guineas.
