Gold Coast Best Bet - Race 1 No. 4 Petunia
After returning in outstanding fashion first-up at Doomben, Petunia finds a very suitable race to record her second career victory on Wednesday.
Settling at the rear of the field at Doomben over 1200m, the trip was always going to be short of the Sebring filly's best, but the way she savaged the line late was a terrific indication she has returned a better horse this preparation.
She is drawn perfectly to settle near the leaders from barrier five and is boosted by Jim Byrne electing to stay aboard.
Although more suited with a stronger the tempo is up front, Petunia looks well placed to record her second career win as the best bet of the day.

Gold Coast Roughie - Race 5 No. 1 Frustrated
Originally sold to Hong Kong, Frustrated returns to Australia under the tutelage of Bryan & Daniel Guy and looks a massive chance on his home track.
After being sold in 2018 off the back of two impressive trials in Sydney, the five-year-old son of All Too Hard won two of 16 races in Hong Kong, both at Happy Valley.
Having since returned to Australia, the gelding produced an impressive trial at the Gold Coast under Jaden Lloyd who also climbs aboard on Wednesday, running through the line under a strong hold.
Drawn barrier eight, expect Lloyd to land in a prominent position aboard Frustrated and at at a big early quote, is worth an each-way nibble.

Gold Coast Value Bet - Race 6 No. 4 North Afrika
After dominating racing up in North Queensland, North Afrika has disappointed thus far this preparation but looks to have found the right race to breakthrough off a five-length trial win.
A strong front-running type who loves to bowl along out in front, the six-year-old gelding by Starcraft has failed to capture his dominant best this preparation since a narrow third behind Seingisbelieving first-up over the mile.
Finishing twelfth and sixth at his two subsequent starts, John Smerdon sent him back to the trials where although there was no footage of the day, the times and distance to the second horse suggest he may be back to his best.
Drawn barrier four, Ryan Wiggins hasn't given up on North Afrika and stays aboard on Wednesday, where he will likely land in the lead and if he's at his best, will take some catching.

Gold Coast Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 5 Pinnacle Star
The David Vandyke-trained Pinnacle Star was a bookies best mate during his last preparation, but looks to have found the right race to make amends here first-up.
After going down as favourite in each of his last three starts, never beaten more than 0.4-of-a-length, the five-year-old son of Starspangledbanner is a consistent performer having placed in ten of 11 starts with four wins.
Drawn barrier three on Wednesday, Ryan Maloney can land in a beautiful spot behind the speed and looks to have returned in strong fashion once again this preparation after a terrific trial on the Sunshine Coast.
Drawn to land in a perfect position behind what looks to be a strong speed, Pinnacle Star appeals as one of the best bets of the day.
