Geelong Tips for Saturday, November 9

Country racing heads to Geelong on Saturday with a competitive seven race program.

The Ballan Cup is the feature of the program, worth $35,000. The rail is out 4m for the entire circuit and the track will either be in the Soft or Heavy range depending on the weather.

Race 6 No. 9 Paremuus Boy

The Matthew Williams Yard are having a very good patch at the moment and we’re hoping that can continue with this Gelding in the feature.

His two runs in this time have been fantastic. He looked the winner in the Country Championship qualifier heat at Horsham when resuming but ducked in at a vital moment to go down by 0.7 lengths, before going to Bendigo and running in restricted room for the last 200 meters and finishing 2.5 lengths off Polanco.

He’s only missed the placings once from three tries third-up which bodes well for this run and he drops in grade here.

From barrier three he will get snagged back to near last, but with the four kilogram claim from Emily Brown, the rest of the field are giving him a minimum of five kilograms in the run.

He will be storming home and hopefully he can get the punters some cash for the trip back down the highway.

Race 1 No. 6 Ethical Solution

This Filly by Shamus Award clearly has some ability or else the Lloyd Kennewell team wouldn’t have put her in a Group three on debut in South Australia.

She was far from disgraced I that Group three, running three lengths off Kooweerup who has went on to contest Group races in its current preparation.

She resumed off a 25 week break at Echuca a fortnight ago and she was keen in the run and over raced for the entire race to eventually fade and run two lengths off the winner.

She draws perfectly in a race where the exposed runners have no early speed and the tongue tie goes on for the first time.

If she can drop her head in the run and Zac Spain can slow it up and get a few cheap sectionals out in front, she will be incredibly hard to run down.
