Gawler Tips February 10
Sanders Fodder Class One Handicap Tips (Race 7)
Gawler Best Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Chucky
While this gelding was frustrating for punters last preparation, he was competing off a very long spell and was unlucky not win at least two of the three attempts in Saturday 58 grade, which is much stronger than the midweek Class 1 he faces here.
His condition gave out fresh at Gawler but it was still a nice closing effort from the rear and here off a more regular spell along with a much more forward trial, Chucky has a better first-up platform to launch off and although safely held in that January 9 hit-out, it was a pair of Group performers that filled the quinella.
Todd Pannell jumped aboard the son Danerich in his last attempt on September, a contest he would've won with clean air and drawn out in this big field which should suit his racing pattern, can chime in late off a good speed.
Adelaide Plains Bloodstock Benchmark 58 Handicap (Race 8)
Gawler Value Bet - Race 8 No. 9 Vindex
The winning strike rate is admittedly poor although to be fair, he's been very consistent since joining the Kristi Evans stable, a trainer who has managed to get the second and third career wins from Vindex, which have both come over his last six outings.
A near two-year drought was broken second-up last September (in this grade) and returning from a short spell on the New Year's Day at Murray Bridge, was able to prevail again in an event that's was not a whole lot weaker to that he's contesting this Wednesday.
The seven-year-old closed off quite well behind Pindaric on January 16, a smart sprinter that remained unbeaten with victory last Saturday at Morphettville and a two-length defeat to him is good enough to have Vindex as an each-way hope here, especially from the good gate.
TAB Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 9)
Gawler Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 3 Miss Carboni
Having her first start for trainer Andrew Clarken on January 13 was this ex-Victorian, who went around as the second favourite in that 1100m affair from Strathalbyn and given the farcical early tempo, was given no chance of winning the race.
Opting to settle outside the favourite and early leader Hushiano, who kicked up from an inside draw and set a strong speed up front, they went for home a long way out on Miss Carboni who was left vulnerable with Hushiano dropping off, but couldn't realistically sustain that pressure in a messy race.
Senior rider Jason Holder takes the reins for this second-up assignment and stripping fitter for that last outing, only needs to be rated a little softer on the speed to be a leading chance in the last from Gawler.

Verdict
Chucky was unlucky in stronger races last campaign and if they're running on out wider, he looks very well placed in Race 7 from Gawler.
Miss Carboni (Race 9) had excuses on a hot speed fresh and can bounce back second-up.
Vindex has each-way claims at a double figure quote in Race 8.
