Doomben Racing Tips For 09.11.2019 - Does Macewen complete the hat-trick?

Doomben will host the Saturday Brisbane meeting this week with a ten race program and the feature comes in the last via the Listed Keith Noud Quality.

The track is currently rated at a Soft 5 but there should be an upgrade with the fine and warm conditions expected.

Doomben Best Bet

Race 4 No. 5 Macewen

A well bred four-year-old by Rothesay and out of a half sister to multiple group winners Antonio Lombardo and Master Of Arts.

He's aiming for his third win in a row following two soft victories at Eagle Farm and gave every impression in both of them efforts that'll he lap up the extra distance.

Is up in grade against a few more proven campaigners but there's a query on how well Shogun Son and Sparky Lad are going and he drops well in the weights for his trouble.

Macewen is clearly the form runner in this line-up at present which makes him our best bet at Doomben this Saturday.

Doomben Next Best Bet

Race 8 No. 9 Trevelyan

This lightly raced and very honest son of Pierro is resuming following a good freshen-up.

He somehow found himself three-deep for the entire journey in his last attempt on September 21 from a good gate and with a pinch of luck, there's no doubting he wins that race.

The last time time he was at the mile and in this benchmark, he was runner-up to Looks Like Elvis who's been very competitive in Melbourne and should've finished a little closer to him that day.

Has been ticking over and the recent trial in a strong heat should have brought him on for what is a very winnable race.

Doomben Best Each Way

Race 7 No. 2 Alward

All things being equal, there's very little separating the top three or four in the market here but at the each way odds, this Chris Waller trained galloper makes the most appeal.

He ran second to the Queensland Oaks winner on October 5 before facing a similar field to what he meets here at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.

Alward was the clear pick of those making ground against the pattern of the race where he was close to nabbing Kubis and meets that winner Fighting Teo 2kg better off from that clash.

The step up to 2000m is a big tick as five of his six career wins have come at this trip and he is capable of settling closer from the inside alley.

Macewen is clearly the one in Race 4 off current form.

Trevelyan deserves win number four and gets his chance to do so in the eighth.

Alward is a good each way chance in a competitive Race 7.
