Coolmore Classic Day 2020 Tips

It's Chandon Ladies Day at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday with one the premier mares group one's in Australia in the $600,000 Coolmore Classic headlining the program.

The rail is in the true position and the track is currently in the Soft 7 range with no rain predicted on Thursday or Friday but there is a chance of some precipitation on race day.

Our preview for the day is featured below but for those looking specifically looking for the Coolmore Classic preview, it can be found by clicking here.

Coolmore Classic Day Favourites

Race 2 No. 3 Ilovemyself

The Pago Pago/Golden Slipper Stakes winning double hasn't been achieved since Stratum in 2005, however this Victorian visitor will be looking to book his slot in Australia's premier two-year-old race next Saturday.

Making his debut in the Festival Stakes at Flemington on February 29 following heavy support in the early betting, this colt duly obliged when delivering to the eye, an impressive victory over the five furlongs.

Does need to now go in the clockwise direction and do it all again after going on the road versus a field which includes Aim made our blackbook file two weeks ago whilst his stable mate Argenteus was very unlucky in the same race and trialed superbly prior to that.

This is really a interesting little event early on the Coolmore Classic card and this two-year-old creates some intrigue albeit is impossible to judge as a betting proposition.

Coolmore Classic Day Best Bet

Race 8 No. 10 Master Of Wine

Given he hadn't won below 1700m and was beaten nearly seven lengths in his last attempt over the seven furlongs, it was understandable that many thought he'd likely need the run on February 22.

He made them predictions/doubts look foolish when bolting into score by three and a half lengths and after settling settling handy, Master Of Wine traveled like the winner throughout.

This import is improving with every start he has in Australia where after taking a little while to hit his straps down under, hasn't looked back since that victory in October which has included a listed win at 2400m.

Goes now second-up and to the ten furlongs of the Sky High Stakes which is another challenge but dropping 3kg and with the best turn of foot in this field, Master Of Wine can solidify his rising star claims as the best bet on Coolmore Classic Day.

Coolmore Classic Day Next Best Bet

Race 4 No. 5 Zoustyle

This return looms as somewhat of a d-day for this highly talented gelding from the Tony Gollan stable in Brisbane following an excellent trial leading in.

A son of the star sprinter Zoustar, this four-year-old was superb early days up north with a perfect six from six record which includes some big margins and some tough victories when he was rising through the grades.

They ventured south in the spring of last year which following a flop in a hot Concorde Stakes in September, was narrowly defeated once in Melbourne before a disappointing fourth as a short favourite in the Listed Village Stakes.

He did have definite excuses post race, however and against what is a useful but mostly a B grade line-up with gun front-running hoop Tim Clark taking the reins, now is the time for Zoustyle to deliver if he's to go to that next level.

Coolmore Classic Day Value Bet

Race 6 No. 10 I Am Superman

There was enough to like about the honest return of this now Snowden-trained import's at Randwick over 1300m on February 29.

He was specked at a price there ($13.00 - $11.00) and ultimately, was just set an impossible task with the race favouring the first two home in Quackerjack and Vegadaze who were the first two out.

The set-up looks more in his favour with the step up to 1500m suiting and from barrier four with the early speed drawn outside of him, there's no reason Kerrin McEvoy can't position up much closer earlier in proceedings.

Down in the weights and suited going now getting his toe in on a soft surface, I Am Superman represents nice each way value on Coolmore Classic day providing the intent is there early.

Coolmore Classic Day Roughie

Race 9 No. 5 House Of Cartier

In what looked effectively a barrier trial in coming all the way back to six furlongs off no public trials, her performance was better than the ninth placing at 100/1 suggested on February 29.

With plenty more to offer on the line and with 2000m eventually in mind, she's one to keep an eye on and although likely is still another run short as a strong winning chance, there isn't a standout in this last race on Coolmore Classic day.

The astute John Sargent yard have clearly always had an opinion of this four-year-old mare who put in a string of competitive efforts in her three-year-old season at stakes level

A soft track won't worry her and at least for the multiple or wide quaddie players, House Of Cartier isn't without rough claims in an open field.

With a few more favours in the run, I Am Superman has each way claims in the Ajax Stakes off decent return.
