TAB HANDICAP Tips (Race 2)
Canterbury Value Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Grace And Harmony
One of the more interesting races on this Canterbury program is the third where although it is a small Maiden field of seven, we see the returning Overlord (as a gelding), a galloper with some outstanding form lines over his first two campaigns albeit did plenty wrong on just about every occasion.
Another from the Chris Waller stable (he has five in the field currently) is this smooth moving daughter of Sebring who has trialled as well any of these and caught the eye in her most recent hit-out on November 30, where she made good inroads under a hold and if asked, could've have quite easily taken out that 900m heat.
It's not the easiest meeting for value and Grace And Harmony looks as though she'll get over more ground in time, but from a low draw and doing everything right ahead of this debut, she appears to be sneaking under the guard a little here.
RYDE KIA EVENING STAR Tips (Race 4)
Canterbury Best Bet - Race 4 No. 2 Night Of Power
He's also accepted for the Royal Randwick card on Saturday, but with the hope that they head here for an easier assignment, we'll make this six-year-old from the Bjorn Baker stable the best bet of the program following a sound return at Kembla Grange.
Following a promising start to his Australian career which included a second-up victory over this track and trip back in January, he wasn't able to quite go on with it with some frustrating performances in much stronger Benchmarks to what he faces here and as a consequence, connections decided to geld him ahead of this preparation.
Night Of Power didn't get out until late via that return run and although still had his chance in the end (winner came from behind him), there were some decent margins back in the field and with a very good second-up record, he does look well placed here.
HYLAND RACE COLOURS HANDICAP Tips (Race 7)
Canterbury Roughie - Race 7 No. 10 Alchermes
We've endured somewhat of a love/hate relationship with this mare who recorded back-to-back victories earlier in the year at the Provincials and although still competitive, has been quite a tease since then.
Following a luckless return at Canterbury in September, the daughter of Excelebration has hit the line well on three occasions via some spaced out attempts and the effort at Rosehill over 1500m last time out had merit where she was just off midfield in a slowly run affair.
The question mark is whether she stays, but carrying just 54.5kg and with a benefit of a good draw where we're hoping they be a little more positive early, this 1900m ask is worth a shot at the stumps now, so respecting the placement by Ron Quinton in a race with no standouts.

Canterbury Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 12 Raison D'etre
This Godolphin filly is on the fringes of stakes company with two midfield efforts over the Moonee Valley 1200m via the Melbourne Spring Carnival and has been freshened-up following a sixth-place finish in the Listed Crockett Stakes on Cox Plate Day.
They did ride her colder both of those occasions and them performances followed a Randwick flop on September 5 but there were excuses in the post-race with the three-year-old pulling up with a slow recovery and she had won at Canterbury prior to that (first-up).
Raison D'etre put three lengths on Elizabeel in that victory, a very talented filly who won her next two outings and it should've been a hat-trick in the Listed Reginald Allen where she was luckless (followed that with a fourth in the Bondi Stakes) and in just one kilo over the minimum for a Fillies And Mares Benchmark 72, she's standing out in this contest.
