Bunbury Racing Tips For March 4 2020

The $125,000 Listed Bunbury Stakes in Race 8 will headline the WA card this Wednesday.

No rain is expected on what is a Good 4 surface and the rail is in the true position.

Bunbury Best Bet

Race 4 No. 4 Oristano

There's no prizes for finding him at the short quote, however this three-year-old looks far better suited stepping out to the 1400m second-up.

Following a fourth placing on debut in a handy race at Belmont in August last year, he was sent out as an odds-on favourite when resuming at Pinjarra on February 23 where despite not rewarding punters, he was doing his best work late.

The time he took to pick up and the way he came off the bit a little early suggested he'd improve over more ground and is no doubt open to improvement coming in off just the one trial.

He's drawn to settle handy early and in maiden that lacks depth, Oristano can breakthrough as the best bet at Bunbury this Wednesday.

Bunbury Next Best Bet

Race 1 No. 3 Jakestar

This locally trained gelding from the Holly Locke yard brings some strong form from his first racing preparation.

He was runner-up on debut at big odds when beating the handy We've Got Dreams who's since won three races which includes a decent event in town around the carnival time in November last year.

Proved that was no fluke with another runner-up performance on his home track here in a race that's produced four subsequent winners that finished behind him on that occasion.

Jakestar got home late in an early February trial and off that proven form, he should take catching from barrier three under Chloe Azzopardi with her 1.5kg claim.

Bunbury Value Bet

Race 6 No. 7 Our Girl Marli

On an each way basis, this daughter of Trade Fair isn't without claims second-up following a luckless return.

Up in grade on that occasion at Albany on February 16, she should've at least run a placing after picking up again late but had nowhere to go in the last fifty metres.

Whilst the winning strike rate certainly isn't appealing, she has been competitive and placed in events every bit as strong as this Class 1 and finds herself dropping half a kilo for a weaker grade here.

In a race that's lacking any standout, Our Girl Marli has definite top three claims at big odds for the roughie or exotic players at Bunbury.

The form around Jakestar's first campaign reads very well for the opener.

Our Girl Marli has top 3-4 claims at big odds in the first leg of the Quaddie.
