Bunbury Racing Tips For January 15 2020 - Does Pike pull off a Great Heist?

Racing in the west is off to Bunbury this Wednesday for a seven race program where fine conditions are expected.

A cutaway is comes into play in the home straight and the track is rated a Good 4.

Bunbury Best Bet

Race 6 No. 5 Great Heist

This son of Dash For Cash probably should've won first-up here on December 29.

Just left himself with a bit too much to do and got the run when it was all over behind Due West who was well rated up front and had the tactical advantage in a maiden that went a shade faster than the Class 3.

Big plus here with the step up to 1200m and William Pike takes the ride on this gelding where from barrier four with a cutaway present, he has plenty of options.

Great Heist strips fitter and with any improvement, has a strong case as the best bet at Bunbury.

Bunbury Next Best Bet

Race 3 No. 4 Excellent Dream

Now prepared by the Lindsay Smith yard is this three-year-old who is resuming in his second racing preparation.

He showed good ability at the trials before heading to a 70k Belmont race on debut back in July 2019 where he was a well supported favourite but didn't handle the Soft 7 conditions.

The winner of that event Mia Dolce is no slouch having won six races whilst that field also included Special Choice (listed placed and group competitive) along with the useful Boomtastic (listed competitive).

The trial leading into this was sound and in a much easier affair, Excellent Dream gets another chance as the next best bet at Bunbury.

Bunbury Best Value Bet

Race 7 No. 7 Scenic Journey

A lightly raced mare who barring a Soft 7 flop at the end of her last campaign, hasn't run a bad race to date.

Whilst she's only chalked up the one victory from nine starts, she's been very consistent with four placings and is warming into this preparation fairly going off the first two efforts.

After catching the eye fresh down in grade, she stepped up to this class on December 29 where she was again doing her best work late and shouldn't be far off a peak performance now.

Her racing pattern is reflective in the price but is likely to be getting home again and at a double figure quote, Scenic Journey looks the each way value in the last at Bunbury.

Verdict

Great Heist put the writing on the wall fresh and the extra furlong along with Pike on are two big ticks in Race 6.

Excellent Dream was favourite in a much stronger race on debut and has trialed fairly ahead of the third.

Scenic Journey has each way claims in the last at a decent price.
