Race Three

Tailleur (First): Reeling in the leader Switched just in the nick of time was this resuming Godolphin filly with that pair putting a big five length margin on the third-placed Mr Polar in the process.

A half-sister to a dual group-three winner in Raiment, Tailleur made it two from two following a soft maiden victory at Gosford in January and franked the Hawkesbury June 15 trial heat which has produced two impressive stable mate wins via Varda and Roheyrn.

Whilst the winning margin was narrow, a 35.12 last 600 metres was recorded (fastest for the entire card) with this Godolphin filly seemingly only balancing up late to get the job done.

The Heavy 9 conditions weren't exactly to Tailleur's liking over the 1100 metres resuming, however, class was able to override that and this three-year-old will get over more ground in time.

Race Seven

Outback Diva (Third): Under the circumstances, this mare from the Richard & Michael Freedman stable produced arguably the run of the day.

Arriving here third-up following an excellent second-up victory on June 13, they opted for the 3kg Louise Day claim on Outback Diva which saw this four-year-old superbly placed again at 78 level but unfortunately, was forced to race wide and without cover throughout.

In a leader dominated affair, she was still the pick of the closers for an eventual third-placed finish to record safely the quickest last splits of this event and with a 37.64 last 600 metres, was nearly two lengths slicker than the only other runner to break 38 seconds for the last 600 metres in this race.

Outback Diva is flying this preparation and given she was only third-up here, is well worth another chance next time out with what's still a manageable rating.
Race Nine

Kiss The Bride (Third): Versus many more exposed and much fitter opposition, this Bjorn Baker-trained gelding appears as the one to follow from the last at Randwick on Saturday.

By Savabeel and of a group one-winning mare in I Do, Kiss The Bride hasn't prevailed in any journey under 1800 metres over his short career to date with his second-up performance here over the mile providing a strong platform for him to now launch off.

Whilst his last 200m on the clock and visually, the last 100 metres of this race indicated he peaked on his run late after attempting a wide and early from the rear under Rachel King, he was the only runner to break 38 seconds for the last 600 metres of this race (37.95).

Kiss The Bride made it back-to-back wins last time in when third and fourth-up and although it will be a little tougher this time around in stronger company, he has improved and is tracking for similar peak results this preparation.
