Belmont Racing Tips For May 23 2020

Saturday Racing in Perth returns to Belmont where a nine event card will be run.

Fine conditions are predicted on what is a Good 4 surface and the rail is in the 3m position throughout.

Belmont Roughie - Race 5 No. 10 Baramagic

This four-year-old has been somewhat of an underachiever in fifteen career starts as he's got more ability than the two wins so far suggest.

A son of the mighty Western Australian sire Blackfriars, he should've capitalized at least a few more times at the back-end of 2019 but with bad luck and a few pilot errors, wasn't able to deliver.

After a much deserved second-up victory this time in, he's been ticking along fairly with the class rises since then and appears better suited back over the staying journey now after getting home well on May 9.

Baramagic does need some favors due to his racing pattern but at big odds in a very open race, he's going well enough at a rough quote to be in the mix.

Belmont Best Bet - Race 6 No. 13 Showmanship

William Pike and the powerful training partnership of Grant & Alana Williams combine with this resuming galloper that showed a stack of promise in two runs via his first racing preparation.

He won a strong race on this circuit in June 19 debut last year when taking care of a useful field that included Lipstick Flanders (city class galloper) along with other multiple winners.

Following that, he had zero luck as a $1.75 favourite in an event taken out by the very handy Samizdat (subsequent group winner) and there was a host of multiple city winners in that line-up.

Resuming off May 11 trial here where he was doing his best work late, Showmanship does look the class runner here and if right, will be hard to beat as the best bet at Belmont.

Belmont Value Bet - Race 8 No. 16 Pastry

I've got plenty of time for the big and strapping Power Of St George who's a brute and a deserving favourite albeit just under the odds at present given he he does a need a few things to fall his way.

The strong Kalgoorlie stable of Peter Fernie combines with William Pike on this mare who looks set to peak now at seven furlongs following a strong chasing effort on May 10.

Pike strikes at an astonishing 42.1% this season when partnering up with this yard, and for this 100k Provincial Series Final, there's no doubt that this would be a target.

On an each way basis and from a good map where they position up handy enough, Pastry is good value in the penultimate from Belmont.
