The Listed Belmont Stakes over the 2200 metres (Race 5) headlines the Belmont card this Saturday where mostly fine conditions are predicted.

Heavy 8 is the current track reading and the rail return to the true position.

FREE ENTRY TO BELMONT PARK HANDICAP Tips (Race 2)

Belmont Value Bet - Race 2 No. 5 Guesteen

The fresh three-year-old on the scene to this small line-up is this filly from the Lou Luciani stable who trialled up strongly in readiness for this return.

Via that July 13 heat which included a few stakes-class gallopers in Snowchino and The Big Show, Guesteen was arguably the pick of them when cruising to the line under a good hold for third.

After breaking through on debut in December last year, she sustained a long first racing preparation which had seven starts overall with strong form which includes a runner-up to Indian Pacific (only horse to have defeated the smart Windstorm).

Although it's a small field, it's not lacking in early speed and taking the camp off them with a view to pouncing late under Jason Whiting, Guesteen is capable of making her presence felt.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICK GRAVES HANDICAP Tips (Race 6)

Belmont Roughie - Race 6 No. 2 Aconite

She broke a long run of outs when winning softly second-up at Pinjarra on July 9 over the seven furlongs which followed a luckless return on June 25.

Prepared by the in-form Brett Pope stable, Aconite rarely runs a bad race and despite not tasting victory last time in, was still very competitive in some handy affairs which included a third to Perfect Jewel at group three level.

To the eye, she does appear to be running through the line a little stronger this campaign and whilst the 60.5kg is the knock, she should get a soft run throughout from barrier five.

Mitchell Pateman is striking at an excellent 32.5% from his last 40 rides and as the class runner in this field (twice stakes-placed), she appears to be getting under the radar at the current odds.

BELMONT PARK BOOK A BAY HANDICAP (Race 7)

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 6 Fred Dag

Trying to knock off the odds-on favourite here in Not To Be Mist is this very honest four-year-old who's always thereabouts and remains at the mile following a narrow defeat on July 4.

Although he hasn't able to bring up win number six this time in, he's found himself spotting weight to almost every winner he's bumped into which included giving 6kg to Resistance last time out who only out-bobbed him on the line.

He won't know himself with 54.5kg on his back in this event and is one of the few fancies in this race that handles wet ground (Soft 7 winner over 1600 metres with 59kg via his last victory).

Fred Dag is hard fit now with that run over a mile under his belt and in a field that does fall away depth wise, he's a definite winning hope.

SCHWEPPES HANDICAP Tips (Race 8)

Belmont Best Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Jericho Missile

This talented gelding from the David Harrison yard is making his first appearance for 2020 and arrives off a nice trial June 29 trial at Lark Hill when comfortably going through his work for an eventual third.

His spring/early summer form from 2019 was excellent over the carnival where he was a brilliant Listed winner second-up before just finding a handy Red Can Man a little too strong over seven furlongs.

With all three of his career wins having either come first or second-up, early in the preparation looks the time to catch Jericho Missile who does also appear better suited by coming back to these sprint trips.

The wet track is the unknown although a lead in that regard could be both that of his siblings in Seentoomany and Hearts Lifted handle it which gives some confidence for Jericho Missile as the best bet at Belmont this Saturday.

CROWN PERTH HANDICAP Tips (Race 10)

Belmont "Get Out" Tip - Race 10 No. 4 Danny George

It's a competitive last event event to finish this Saturday's Belmont meeting, but fresh and resuming off two handy trials, Danny George has each-way claims.

A dual winner in the winter of 2019, he followed up from that with a fair four run campaign early this year where he was still competitve albeit just lacked that short and sharp turn of foot that was evident in prior attempts.

This four-year-old thrives early in his work with two of three career victories coming fresh whilst his other main triumph came second-up and wet track won't faze him.

Mitchell Pateman will likely be aiming for the middle or outside of this Belmont straight from the off the speed and chime in late on Danny George.
