An eight race midweek card comes up in the west at Belmont on Wednesday where the rail is out 14 metres.

Soft 6 is the current track reading, however, mostly fine conditions are expected on race day.

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Convalesce

In what appears to be a race of two between he and the favourite Kallaroo, the early tactical advantage could be the key for this gelding from the Steve Wolfe stable.

A son of Playing God who was well supported on debut early in the year then tipped out following a flop in the $250,000 Magic Millions WA Classic, the June 17 return for this campaign was sound as runner-up to First Law.

That winner had some strong form coming back to a midweek maiden which went around four lengths faster than other six furlong maiden on the card and there is improvement to come with this two-year-old who looks well suited stepping up to 1400 metres.

Looking for a positive early move by Shaun McGruddy on Convalesce who perhaps has the upside for now over Kallaroo who is very well placed himself although is now facing the starter for the fifth time in his first preparation.

Belmont Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Aberdeen Queen

The query is that she's still in her first racing campaign albeit did return off a freshen-up to nail the useful Levitate on May 17 and was well backed following that in a useful three-year-old event ($5.00-$3.70).

Whilst the fifth placing looked a little plain to the eye, nothing made ground in that 1300 metre affair where the first four out of the gates were the first four past the line.

A near side Bubble Cheeker has been applied to Aberdeen Queen for the first time who also faces her first test at a mile which shouldn't pose any problems off what we've seen to date.

Trainer Lindsey Smith is striking at better than 20% at Belmont this season and back to rather thin midweek race, Aberdeen Queen can bounce back as the best bet on the program.

Belmont Value Bet - Race 8 No. 7 Double The Pro

This honest gelding appreciated stepping out on a circuit in which you can make ground on which was evident via that soft last start victory at Northam.

After settling in his customary off-speed role early, the son of Proart reeled them in with ease late when recording a soft win on the line and drops one kilo off that performance.

There is admittedly more depth to this line-up although many of the better rated opposition are well out of form and barrier nine is about ideal given his racing pattern.

Double The Pro has been a very consistent galloper over the journey and in what's another winnable race, he represents good each way value in the last from Belmont this Wednesday.
