Ascot Racing Tips For 09.11.2019 - Is another Missile arriving from Jericho?

Ascot hosts a strong program in the west with the Group Two Waroa-Lee Steere stakes the feature, which comes up in Race 8.

The rail is back in the true position and it'll be a hot one for participants with an expected maximum of 40 degrees.

Ascot Best Bet

Race 7 No. 2 Jericho Missile

A talented three-year-old who defied the big price and wide barrier to score stylishly second-up in the Listed Belgravia Stakes on October 26.

After being eased back and allowed to run home late, this son of Smart Missile has given them a galloping lesson in a what was a very soft victory in the end.

He isn't the same odds but finds a similar field and out of that line-up a fortnight ago, it's a definite struggle finding something that could turn it around on him from that performance which supports Jericho Missile as the best bet at Ascot.

Has shown his versatility with that effort from well off the speed and Paul Harvey has more options here from barrier four.

Ascot Next Best Bet

Race 6 No. 10 Forgotten Star

This mare from the Alan Mathews stable caught the eye as runner-up fresh is putting together a very consistent record with three wins from ten starts.

The only two times she's missed out on the top three finish were two fourth placed efforts at listed level at the end of her last campaign and she struck unsuitable soft ground on both of them occasions.

She ultimately found the 1200m just a little short on October 26 but is unbeaten from both second-up attempts to date and last of them victories was over this track and trip.

Forgotten Star should have more upside than this field going forward and is in half a kilo over the minimum with the 2kg claim of Emma Stent.

Ascot Roughie

Race 8 No. 8 Mizlecki

It could be a run or so early for this multiple listed winning five-year-old but she's always been a little underrated and you can just about put a line through her fresh performance last week.

After finding herself in a lovely inside trailing position early, Jade McNaught went looking for an inside passage that wasn't quite there and then got stuck behind the tiring Wrinkly when the sprint went on.

In an ideal scenario, I would've liked her to find the line a little better late anyway, but she clearly had excuses prior to that in the run and her last trial leading in on October 14 was excellent.

She's big odds in a strong field but Majinka and Great Shot are likely to clap it on up front and Mizlecki may be able to get a look at it late in the piece.

Verdict

It's hard to see what topples Jericho Missile in Race 7 off that last start victory.

Forgotten Star is consistent, progressive and a good price in the sixth.

Include Mizlecki as a bolters chance in the group three penultimate.
