2019 Caulfield Cup Tips & Best Future Bets

The Caulfield Cup is the first of the three spring majors, holding a carrot worth $5 million.

Having a max capacity field of 18 horses, we see many horses fighting for those last few spots in the field, including internationals who target the race each and every year.

This year the prestigious race will be held on Saturday, October 19 where Mr Quickie is currently your $9 outright favourite.

Internationals including Mer De Glace, Constantinople and Mustajeer are all well favoured in the market.

One of the great handicaps in the world looks set to again be a huge lineup with some high quality internationals increasing the quality.

We have all your best bets for the Caulfield Cup here.

Caulfield Cup Best Future Bet - Mer De Glace @ $15

Mer De Glace is probably the most progressive stayer in Japan and is in quarantine to make his way over for this race.

He has won his last five races in a row and his last three have been at Group Three level.

Australian jockey Damian Lane rode this horse to victory to two wins over 2000m and recommended connections of the horse to come to Australia.

The fact that connections have listened to his advice and have come over is a huge sign they think he can win as he could be running in some of their Group One races.

In my opinion, he is the most exciting horse in this years race as the sky is the limit with him!

We will be hoping the rain stays away and we get a hard track for the race, the harder the better for the Japanese gallopers.

Caulfield Cup Best Bet: Mer De Glace - $15 via BetEasy

Caulfield Cup Value Future Bet - Mirage Dancer @ $26

He was in the first shipment of internationals to come to Australia and it looks as though he has acclimatised well already.

Once out of quarantine, he will head to the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young yard and, aimed for this and the Melbourne Cup.

He has had 16 starts for four wins, his latest being at Goodwood in the listed Tapster Stakes in May this year.

He then ran second at Ascot behind Defoe who is a top quality animal. His last start was in the Group Two Glorious Stakes as the hot favourite in early August. He ran second, beaten two and a half lengths.

If you are looking for a horse at odds who looks well in Australia, this is your horse.
