Sapphire Crown Greyhound Tips - Can Black Opium claim her first G1?

The Group One Sapphire Crown is held at Sandown Park over 515m.

The favourite, Black Opium, is a star of greyhound racing and deserves to break her maiden Group One after a slashing 29.20 heat win last week.

Spring Fair from box three was fantastic last week while Aston Silk may have a more economic run from box five this time.

Sapphire Crown Best Bet - Black Opium

This star bitch has been a multiple Group One runner up and deserves to break through after a super heat win last week.

She ran 29.20 and looked the goods, showing why she is the deserved favourite coming into this event.

The squeeze box is always a question mark, especially in these Group One races where most of the dogs jump quick.

If she can jump quick, keep out of trouble and hit the arm in front, she looks as if she will be breaking her maiden Group One.

Sapphire Crown Value Bet - Aston Silk

The second of the Jason Thompson runners could be the one to either cross with Black Opium or give her a check if she jumps well.

She ran second in her heat last week, run in 29.93, copping a check approaching the first turn which dinted her chances.

She still managed to pick herself up and run home well in that heat, and with a possible cart across from Black Opium, this is her opportunity to stay out of trouble.

If she can keep the pressure on early and make the favourite work up the back, she may just topple her in the run to the line.
