This year, Aston Rupee is favourite for the race ahead of Koblenz.

Although he deadheated last week, when we are seeing these top-liners compete against each other, early speed and staying out of trouble is key which is exactly what this boy will be doing out in front. 

He looks the early leader with blistering speed and having drawn box three, he only needs to replicate his 5.05 early split from last week (slow for him) to find the lead.

We have seen him break a five second early split at this track and trip two times across his career, so there is still room to improve for the big race.

He comes into this race as favourite and as we know, is arguably the best greyhound in Australia, claiming a dominant Group One win in the Topgun final three starts back at The Meadows.

He is not the most brilliant of beginners which from box four in a Group One final can be warning signs, but he overcame big trouble last week to win his heat.

The son of Kc And All has the grit to win and extend in his second half of his races, but the key to his chances is going to be a clean beginning and having a nice camp on the tail of Koblenz.

I was impressed with the win from Dog from the Jason Thompson kennel where he pounced on the lead from box two and have nothing else a chance.

He does not possess the consistent blistering pace of the likes of Koblenz in the event, but he is a reliable beginner who will be hunting up from the inside box to sit inside the first four.

If he can get away like he did in his heat win last week, he matched Koblenz early split and can cause some ruckus from the inside draw.
