2019 Million Dollar Chase Tips

The world's richest greyhound race is this Friday as eight of the dogs in the country confront the Million Dollar Chase at Wentworth Park.

The winner will pocket $1 million for passing the post in first while a further $200,000 will be distributed between the rest of the runners.

We believe a Group One bridesmaid will finally break through at the top level to cash the richest prize in the sport.

Million Dollar Chase Best Bet - Black Opium @ $3.80

Black Opium has long been heralded as one of the top dogs in the country and its her time to prove it on Friday night.

The Black Magic Opal x Captivating has been a runner-up at Group One on three occasions, but after a slick time of 29.46 in the lead-up to this race, she looks set to finally claim that elusive prize.

She ran Ran 5.38 early in that race, which will prove the difference if she can produce that once again.

Good Odds Harada from box two will be the danger to lead but if Black Opium can get a clear run to the front from the five it will be lights out for the opposition and a $1 million cheque in her keeping.

Million Dollar Chase Next Best Bet - Curt Lee @ $6

Curt Lee is the x-factor heading into this race.

Jumping from the eight this fast beginner will have every opportunity to lead and give our best bet a run for her money from the outset.

His best first split is 0.01 off Black Opium's best opening split which means these two will be neck and neck at the opening turn. Curt Lee's best time however is 29.73, which is slower than our top pick's quickest effort.

We don't believe Curt Lee has the motor to match it with Black Opium across the full 520m, but if he gets to the front and others bunch behind he may be able to pinch it from the front.

If Black Opium can get an uncontested lead it is all over for the rest of the field while Curt Lee has the ability to match our selection early, which will make for an interesting battle.

We still think Black Opium is the best dog in this field and she'll finally break through for the elusive Group One on Friday night.
