The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has attracted arguably one of its strongest fields to date after a revamped format for this edition. Who will win the second PGA Tour Signature Event of the season?

Justin Rose returns to Pebble Beach Golf Links to defend his title after a three-stroke victory over Brendon Todd and Brandon Wu in 2023.

The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been shortened to 36 holes at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course for the amateurs on Thursday and Friday, with the professionals competing on all four days.

Past and present major winners that will tee off on Thursday include Brian Harman, Wyndham Clark, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lucas Glover, Webb Simpson, Justin Rose, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, Keegan Bradley, Collin Morikawa and Adam Scott.

These are our four selections that could lift the trophy this weekend.

Xander Schauffele

Xander Schauffele has had an excellent start to the new season on the PGA Tour, finishing T10 at the Sentry, T3 at the American Express and T9 at the Farmers Insurance Open.

Before those results, Schauffele lacked some inconsistency in his game, finishing T42 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T17 at the Open Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T8 at the BMW Championship, 2nd at the Tour Championship and T38 at the ZOZO Championship.

Other noteworthy performances achieved by Schauffele last season include placing T10 at the WM Phoenix Open, T19 at the Players Championship, T5 at the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play, T10 at the Masters, T4 at the RBC Heritage, T4 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, 2nd at the Wells Fargo Championship, T18 at the PGA Championship, T10 at the US Open and T19 at the Travelers Championship.

The world's number-five-ranked player finished T66 at the 2017 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Schauffele has been in fine form and has the game to take home the winner's cheque in California this weekend.

Justin Thomas

Justin Thomas has rediscovered his touch around the greens on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour lately, placing T12 at the Wyndham Championship, 5th at the Fortinet Championship, 4th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, 3rd at the Hero World Challenge and T3 at the American Express.

Other prominent results achieved by Thomas last year include finishing 4th at the WM Phoenix Open, T20 at the Genesis Invitational, T21 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, T10 at the Valspar Championship, T14 at the Wells Fargo Championship and T9 at the Travelers Championship.

The 30-year-old American has made one appearance at this event, missing the cut in 2014.

Thomas has been knocking hard and has an excellent chance to win the AT&T Pebble Beach based on his recent form.

Tommy Fleetwood

Tommy Fleetwood had an indifferent start to his season by finishing T47 at the Sentry before bouncing back to form with victory at the inaugural Dubai Invitational and placing T14 at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.

Before that, Fleetwood had been on an impressive run of results on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, placing T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T10 at the Open Championship, T3 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, T25 at the BMW Championship, T6 at the Tour Championship and 6th at the BMW PGA Championship.

He  T84 at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, T12 at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, and T2 at the DP World Tour Championship.

Additional highlights achieved by Fleetwood last season include finishing T20 at the Genesis Invitational, T3 at the Valspar Championship, T15 at the RBC Heritage, T5 at the Wells Fargo Championship, T18 at the PGA Championship, 2nd at the RBC Canadian Open and T5 at the US Open.

The world's number 11 finished T45 on debut at the 2019 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Fleetwood has been playing well and has the game to secure his maiden PGA Tour title this weekend.

J.T. Poston

J.T. Poston has been in top form during the past six months on the PGA Tour, with results of T2 at the 3M Open, T7 at the Wyndham Championship, T24 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and T22 at the BMW Championship.

He was then T3 at the Shriners Children's Open, T44 at the RSM Classic, T5 at the Sentry, 6th at the Sony Open in Hawaii and T11 at the American Express

Poston's other notable performances from last season include placing T6 at the John Deere Classic, T6 at the Genesis Scottish Open, T10 at the Valspar Championship and T9 at the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play.

The American golfer has featured twice at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, finishing T66 in 2017 and T68 in 2018.

Poston has placed inside the top 10 five times in his previous nine starts and could cause an upset victory at the Pebble Beach Golf Links this weekend.

Verdict

Schauffele has had an impressive start to his season and will look to go all the way at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this weekend.

Thomas comes into this event in great shape and will fancy his chances to secure another PGA Tour title come Sunday.

Fleetwood has been playing well and should enter calculations in California this weekend.

Poston has been ultra-consistent lately and is the long-shot value bet at the Pebble Beach Golf Links.
