2024 Supercars Darwin Triple Crown Preview & Tips

Expect the Camaros of Red Bull Ampol Racing take back the reins this weekend in Darwin after the Mustangs of Chad Mostert and Cam Waters got their first wins of the 2024 Supercar season last month in Perth.

The Perth Supersprint was a much more tight and technical circuit compared with what is in front of the drivers and teams at Hidden Valley, with top speeds in excess of 250km/hr on the 1.1km straight. The second half of the circuit does slow things down a little so finding the right balance between raw speed and dowforce is vital.

Last year saw Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney be the most consistent of the drivers on the track, completing the trio with a first, second and third standing on all steps of the podium throughout the weekend.

Qualifying will not be as important as it was last round in Perth, however, in 2023 the pole sitter finished first in two of the three races so getting the clean air out in front and avoiding the chaos that can eventuate is still critical.

In tougher circumstances last weekend, Will Brown showed the maturity to put in the best drive possible and push the Camaro to its limits to ensure he had good track position.

On a track that suits the Triple 8 car much better, I expect the championship leader to put in a quick lap and get just his second pole of the season.

With the Camaros much more suited to the open nature of the track and with Ampol Red Bull Racing proving that already this season that they are the superior team to look after their tyres, I predict the Will Brown will get his fourth win of the season, going from light to flag in race 11 of the season.
