Australia vs Bangladesh Tips

The Australian team owe Glenn Maxwell a huge debt after he scored 201 of their 293 runs against Afghanistan to secure their sixth win in eight games.

Bangladesh battled to a three-wicket win over Sri Lanka as they notched their second win in eight matches.

Australia Form

Australia have been building well at the Cricket World Cup, with the side currently boasting a six-game winning run that has lifted them up to third in the group.

While they are getting stronger with each game that passes, they were indebted to one of the greatest World Cup innings as Glenn Maxwell dragged his nation to a three-wicket win over Afghanistan via a sublime 201 not out.

With Australia already through to the next round knowing they will play South Africa, will they choose to rotate their starting XI? Resting key players could prove vital after a long and arduous campaign, but leaving in-form players out could hurt them in the semi-finals. If Maxwell is an injury concern then he should be rested to ensure he is at his best for their clash with South Africa.

  • Pakistan (205/3) beat Bangladesh (204)
  • Bangladesh (282/7) beat Sri Lanka (279)

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh have really struggled at the 2023 World Cup, with their win against Sri Lanka last time out their first triumph since they beat Afghanistan in their World Cup opener a month ago.

Their difficult run means they sit in eighth in the group with two wins and six defeats, spared the bottom by their superior net run rate to Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.

A seventh-placed finish is the best Bangladesh can hope for, but they will struggle against Australia in their final match. The Aussies have looked very good, while Bangladesh have failed to beat any of the sides currently in the top-five in the competition.

Verdict

I am backing Australia to come out on top in this one as David Warner gets back to run scoring ahead of the semi-finals.
