New Zealand have taken a stranglehold of the first test against Pakistan at Tauranga following yet another brilliant display by Kane Williamson.
After losing the toss and being sent into bat by Pakistan, New Zealand posted 431 runs in the first innings as Williamson posted 129 and was well supported by Ross Taylor (70), Henry Nicholls (56) and BJ Watling (73).
Shaheen Afridi led the way for the Pakistan bowlers taking 4/109 off 36 overs.
In desperate trouble at 6/80, Mohammad Rizwan (71) and Faheem Ashraf (91) combined to keep Pakistan in the game by the skin of their teeth, eventually being bowled out for 239.
