Joe Burns all but sealed his fate at the SCG on Sunday as he failed to make an impact with the bat once again.
Following the news of David Warners groin injury, there was a spot up for grabs at the top of the order for the Australian side for this upcoming series against India, a spot which looked Burns' for the taking.
After Will Pucovski joined the injury list following his concussion at Drummoyne Oval last week, all Burns needed was a good score for himself to pencil his name in for the first test in Adelaide this week, but once again fell cheaply in the second innings.
After falling for a duck in the first innings, Burns was continued his disappointing form when dismissed for one in the second innings.
The Queenslander has now only scored five runs in his last four innings and has all but guaranteed he has missed out on the opening batsmen role for the first test.
After being rolled for 108 in the first innings, Australia A fought their way back into the game thanks to terrific centuries by Ben McDermott and Jack Wildermuth.
