Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka Tips

Both teams will be reasonably confident coming into this match and they will know it is a crucial one to win. It is The Tigers who look far more balanced at the moment so I’m backing them to get the win.

  • Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan has scored 42 & 46 runs in his last 2 matches.

Head to Head

Bangladesh have won three of their last five T20 matches against Sri Lanka. The last one took place in 2018 where Bangladesh won by two wickets.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh were always expected to qualify for the Super 12 stage but they did it the hard way. After losing to Scotland in their opener, Bangladesh were under huge pressure to win their remaining games, which they did.

That said, The Tigers have a team capable of beating anyone, especially in these conditions. We won’t be seeing many 180+ scores and spinners will play a huge part, and that will grow as the tournament progresses.

Last time out Shakib Al Hasan put in a man of the match performance in Al Amerat against Papua New Guinea. First he scored 46 runs off 37 balls to help Bangladesh to 181 runs. He followed it up by taking 4-9 as Papua New Guinea were bowled out for 97 runs.

Bangladesh Team News

Bangladesh have a settled lineup. They will hope Shakib Al Hasan can maintain the form that has seen him in two successive man of the match awards.

Sri Lanka Form

Sri Lanka came into the World Cup in poor form but as expected they cruised through to the Super 12 stage. They won all three matches with relative ease but things won’t be as simple against the bigger sides.

In their last match Sri Lanka crushed the Netherlands by eight wickets in Sharjah. Lahiru Kumara and Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets each, neither conceding more than 10 runs as the Netherlands were all out for 44 runs.

Kusal Perera scored a blistering 33 runs to win the match in just over seven overs. They will go into the Super 12 stage with confidence but how they will perform remains to be seen.

Sri Lanka Team News

With three wins from three Sri Lanka aren’t likely to make too many changes. Some batsmen are still struggling for some form but their bowling lineup as looked good thus far.
