Australia vs England - 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup

Australia began their T20 World Cup campaign with a comfortable win over Oman to ensure they got off on the right foot.

Marcus Stoinis looked in great touch with 67 not out from 36, while David Warner played a slower 56 from 51. With the ball, Stoinis shone as he took 3/19 in three overs. While Oman did get to within 39 runs of their opponents, they never really looked like they would trouble the men in gold.

For England, their T20 World Cup title defence began with a no result against Scotland. The Scottish managed to get to 90 without loss after 10 overs as they looked to make things awkward for England in a game that saw the weather end any chance of all 40 overs being bowled. Ultimately, the English were never given the chance to bat as the rain washed out any chance of a result.

This set of results simply means that Australia can put one foot in the next round if they win this match. England have a single point from their no result while Australia and Namibia sit in first and second on two points.

With entirely winnable matches against Namibia and Scotland to come, if Australia can make it four points from two matches, it would put England under huge pressure whilst also ensuring Australia are perfect after two outings.
