New Zealand host the West Indies in the 2nd T20 in Mount Maunganui on Sunday. The hosts will look to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series but the Windies impressed in parts on Friday, and will challenge the Black Caps once again.
New Zealand Form
New Zealand bounced back from their 5-0 T20 series to India last time out to win the 1st T20 against the West Indies by five wickets.
The West Indies batted first in a rain affected match at Eden Park. Eventually the teams got out onto the field and the match was reduced to 16 overs.
The Black Caps started magnificently with the ball as they had the Windies at 59-5 but the visitors recovered to score 180 runs. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the hosts bowlers as he took 5-21 in four overs.
New Zealand’s initial response wasn’t great as Martin Guptill and Tim Seifert were gone early. Newcomer Devon Conway scored a brisk 41 runs while James Neesham added 48 off 24 balls to send New Zealand to victory with four balls to spare.

New Zealand’s youngsters performed well in the 1st T20 so they are likely to remain in the team. Veteran Ross Taylor will however hope he can move up the order after scoring 0.
West Indies Form
The West Indies put up a superb fight in the 1st T20 after a terrible start. They will feel unfortunate to have lost it by five wickets in the end.
Andre Fletcher was devastating at the top of the innings scoring 34 off 14 balls but Brandon King, Shimron Hetmyer, Nicolas Pooran and Rovman Powell were dismissed in no time to leave them reeling. Kieron Pollard and Fabian Allen came to the rescue with 75 and 30 runs respectively.
The target of 180 runs looked a superb total considering that the match was reduced to 16 overs. Sheldon Cottrell bowled well but the rest of the bowlers let the West Indies down as New Zealand won with four balls to spare.

West Indies are very likely to stick with a similar team to the 1st T20. Shimron Hetmyer and Nicolas Pooran will be under pressure to perform in the 2nd T20.
