Canterbury Kings vs Otago Volts Tips - Kings to claim the points

The Canterbury Kings lead 15-9 in 24 completed matches against the Otago Volts. 

They met earlier this season where the Kings won by 51 runs at Molyneux Park.

The Canterbury Kings have come under pressure over recent matches. They are now third on the Super Smash table but they have already done enough to qualify for the playoffs. 

In their last match, the Kings lost to the table topping, Wellington Firebirds by seven wickets. CJ Bowes has enjoyed a good season and continued that form with 44 runs. Their total of 153 runs at the Basin Reserve was always going to be a bit short.

The Firebirds did not have it all their own way but eventually got home in the final over of the match. The Kings’ Matt Henry showed his quality with figures of 1-22 in four overs.

The Canterbury Kings are unlikely to be looking to make any changes. CJ Bowes has found his early season form while internationals, Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry bring plenty of experience to the side.

The Otago Volts still have a glimmer of hope in terms of making the playoffs, but they will need to win their final three matches. Currently the Volts are fifth, eight points off the Northern Knights in fourth.

The batsmen of the Volts have failed to deliver this season and that continued against the Wellington Firebirds in their last match.

Batting first, the Volts scored 137 runs at the Basin Reserve. None of the top five batsmen managed to score more than 11 runs.

The Firebirds cruised to victory by four wickets with two overs to spare.

The Otago Volts have no injury worries and will likely remain unchanged going into this match.

Contrary to most of the other sides, the Volts have not had a surge of international players joining the squad over the last week. This has put them further back in terms of quality.
