- Tasmania vs South Australia FAQs
South Australia have been poor this year and are yet to win a single match in the Sheffield Shield this year.
- Tasmania have not lost any of their last four (W2, D2) (Sheffield Shield)
- Tasmania have picked up 20 points this season (Sheffield Shield)
- South Australia are yet to win this season (D3, L2) (Sheffield Shield)
- SA are 12 points behind their next opponents in the table (Sheffield Shield)
Head to Head
The last time the two sides played came in the One-Day Cup. This game saw SA run out winners by four wickets in a very competitive clash.
Tasmania Form
Tasmania's last match in the Sheffield Shield saw them pick up a vital win over Victoria. Batting first, Victoria could only notch 121 runs as Jackson Bird (4/13) and Peter Siddle (3/34) ran through their opponents in fine style. Jake Doran then top scored with 85 to help his side onto 220 all out.
While Victoria were then able to battle their way to 336 all out, Tasmania notched a score of 241/6, with Doran (47 not out) once again starring as they won by four wickets. While the victory was hardly comfortable, it put their class with bat and ball on full show as they ensured they made it four games without defeat.
Now, they will target a SA side that are struggling massively, with a win in this game helping them to put even more points between themselves and their opponents in the table.
South Australia Form
South Australia have really struggled this season, and they find themselves 12 points behind Tasmania in the table and 23 points behind Western Australia at the top.
SA looked in good touch in their last game, but they once again failed to pick up a win despite looking like they were on course in the match. A competitive score of 240 all out was spearheaded by Harry Nielsen's 90, but his good work was undone as Queensland batted their way to 342 all out. In reply, Nathan McSweeney scored 77 not out as SA closed on 246/3, meaning the match ended in a draw.
This draw saw them avoid a second-straight loss in a row, but it means they are still without a win this season. With the top sides now boasting clear daylight at the top, SA cannot afford to lose more ground on those above them.
Verdict
We are backing Tasmania to pick up their third win of the season as they look to keep pace with WA at the top of the table.
