New Zealand vs Bangladesh Tips

It will take some effort for Bangladesh to get a win in New Zealand given their record against the Black Caps away from home. For me, the good money is on Will Young to score big again in the 2nd ODI.

  • New Zealand’s Will Young scored 105 runs in the last ODI.

  • Bangladesh’s Anamul Haque top-scored in the last ODI.

Head to Head

New Zealand lead the series 1-0 after beating Bangladesh in the first ODI by 44 runs on the D/L method.

New Zealand Form

New Zealand lead the series 1-0 after a rain-affected win in the opening match of the series. Batting first, the Black Caps scored 239 runs in 30 overs.

Will Young batted superbly, scoring 104 off 84 balls while Tom Latham added 92 runs. The total of 239 in 30 overs was a fair enough total on a wicket that had something in it for the bowlers.

The bowlers then secured the victory with an effective bowling display. Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi and Josh Clarkson all took two wickets, and the visitors were held to 200 in 30 overs.

New Zealand Team News

The hosts may look to make a change or two depending on conditions.

Bangladesh Form

Bangladesh lost the opening ODI and will be looking to level the series against New Zealand in this fixture.

Once the rain shortened the opening ODI, Bangladesh would have felt more confident of taking a series lead. They bowled pretty well, restricting the hosts to 239 in 30 overs. It was just one partnership that they failed to break in the first 25 overs that cost them.

The chase was always on if Bangladesh could hold their nerve. However, while quite a few players got in, no one kicked on with a big score. Anamul Haque top scored with 43 runs while there were four other players that passed the 20 or 30 run mark.

That said, The Tigers could only reach 200 in their 30 overs, so it was a reasonably comfortable defeat in the end.

Bangladesh Team News

I don’t foresee too many changes to the visitors’ lineup for the 2nd ODI.

I am backing Will Young to top score and score 50+ runs in the match for New Zealand.

For Bangladesh, I'm looking at Anamul Haque to top score after an impressive innings in the opening game.
