England and Australia meet in the 3rd ODI at Old Trafford on Wednesday. It will be the series decider with them level at 1-1 after the first two ODIs.

Old Trafford hasn't produced the best wickets for batsmen with low scores likely to continue into the 3rd ODI. It is quite late to be playing cricket in England and the Old Trafford pitch has had plenty of action over the last two months.

Expect Adam Zampa and Adil Rashid to play a role although, should the wicket be very try, Ashton Agar could join Zampa in attack.

England Form & News

England looked dead and buried in the 2nd ODI at Old Trafford on Sunday. They batted poorly on a slow wicket but a brilliant 9th wicket partnership by Adil Rashid and Tom Curran got them to a respectable total of 231 runs.

Australia were cruising to victory on 144-2 but superb bowling spells by Jofra Archer and Chris Woakes sparked a massive collapse for the visitors. They were eventually dismissed for 207 runs, 24 runs short of the total.

England could also make a few changes to allow Tom Banton and Dawid Malan a run. Captain Eoin Morgan seemed to have another finger injury during the last match but reports suggest he will be fit.

Australia Form & News

Australia won the 1st ODI and looked set for a series victory in the 2nd ODI. Brilliant bowling performances from Josh Hazelwood and Adam Zampa restricted England to 231 runs in 50 overs. Despite two early wickets Aaron Finch and Marnus Labuschagne took them to 144-2.

The loss of Labuschagne for 48 runs however caused a huge collapse as Australia slipped from 144-2 to 147-7. They never fully recovered and the dismissal of Finch for 73 signaled the end for the Aussies. The 24 run defeat will hurt as they go into the series decider.

Steven Smith should be fit for the 3rd ODI after missing the first two with concussion. There could be other changes as the Aussies look to give opportunities to the likes of Josh Philippe, Riley Meredith and Andrew Tye.

England vs Australia Head to Head

England hold a 12-3 advantage over Australia in their last 15 ODI matches. England won their last encounter by 24 runs at Old Trafford just a few days ago.

England vs Australia Odds

England are priced at $1.72 to win with Australia valued at $2.10. Joe Root and Jason Roy are both paying $4.50 to be England’s best batsman while Aaron Finch is available at $4.00 in the same market for the Aussies.

England vs Australia Match Up

It hasn’t been a high scoring series thus far and I don’t see that changing for this match. It is the third successive match at Old Trafford and thus far the pitches haven’t been batsman friendly. The Aussie bowlers have performed exceptionally well so far but their batsmen will need to produce a lot better.

I'm backing England to win the series decider with Sam Billings tipped to get runs. Australia's Aaron Finch shouldn't be ignored in the run scoring markets.
