Australia vs New Zealand Preview, Predictions & Betting Tips

Australia host New Zealand in the 2nd ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney on Sunday.

Australia can clinch the 3-match series with a win, while Marnus Labuschange will be eager to keep his fine run of form with the bat going.

The match will be played without a crowd due to the current coronavirus pandemic sweeping the globe.

Australia Form & News

Australia are undefeated on home soil this summer and they will be eager to extend that run in the 2nd ODI against New Zealand in Sydney.

The hosts won the first ODI between the sides on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney.

Australia posted 258/7 in their 50 overs before bowling New Zealand out for just 187 with 9 overs to spare.

David Warner top scored for Australia with 67, while Marnus Labuschange continued his excellent form with the bat, notching 56 runs.

Australia will be delighted with the way Labuschange is going about his business since bursting onto the ODI scene earlier this year. In his 6 ODI innings since making his debut, he has scored 305 runs at an average of just over 50.

New Zealand Form & News

New Zealand will be eager to get back to winning ways and save the series in the 2nd ODI.

The issue for the Black Caps is the inconsistency of their top order. They let the side down badly on Friday, with only Martin Guptill walking away with a semblance of credit by scoring 40 runs.

After an impressive 3-match ODI whitewash of India last month, many believed they would bring the heat to Australia, but judging by the first ODI in Sydney, they have a lot to work on if they are to get back into this series.

Australia vs New Zealand Head to Head

Australia have a fantastic record against New Zealand since their first ODI meeting in 1974. The Aussies have won 91 of the 134 clashes between the sides. Before the match in Sydney on Friday, the last time the sides met was at the World Cup in 2019. Australia won that match by 86 runs at Lord’s in London.

Australia vs New Zealand Betting Odds

Australia are priced at $1.44 to win the match, while New Zealand are available at $2.75. Australia’s Marnus Labuschange is priced at $2.80 to score another ODI half-century, while captain Aaron Finch is available at $1.83 to score more than 41.5 runs. The ever-dangerous David Warner is priced at $1.83 to score more than 45.5 runs.

Australia vs New Zealand Match Up

Australia will look to exploit the inconsistencies that New Zealand have in their top order once again. New Zealand have some very classy batsmen at their disposal, but the issue is that they seldom seem to perform as a unit. Throw into the mix the dangerous Aussie bowlers and fantastic top order, and you have what looks like another win for Australia on the cards.
