  • Western Australia beat Victoria by five wickets in their season opener (Marsh One-Day Cup)
  • WA are one of only two sides with a 100% record (Marsh One-Day Cup)
  • New South Wales sit in fifth in the table (Marsh One-Day Cup)
  • NSW lost the opening game of the season to Victoria (Marsh One-Day Cup)

Head to Head

The last time the two sides met came in the 2021/22 Marsh One-Day Cup final. Western Australia were restricted to 225/9 in their 50 overs, but they restricted New South Wales to 207 all out in 46.3 overs to win the title.

Western Australia Form

Western Australia looked very impressive in their opening game of the Marsh One-Day Cup as they secured a five wicket win over Victoria. Andrew Tye was excellent with the ball as he returned figures of 4/54 in his 10.

With the bat, Josh Philippe (100 from 96) and D'Arcy Short (90 from 113) led from the front as they scored the vast majority of the runs in a brilliant chase. their exploits in the first game of the season will have given them a lot of confidence going forward, although they know they cannot take anything for granted against a New South Wales side that they snatched the title from last season.

New South Wales Form

New South Wales were given the honour of partaking in the season opener, but they were unable to claim the points in a match that was decided via the DLS method.

Daniel Hughes was superb with the bat for NSW as he notched 117 from 128 to help his side onto 277/7 in their 50 overs.

Victoria were set an adjusted 156 to win, which they eventually notched, which saw last season's beaten finalists starting their new campaign with a loss. This defeat was made even more disappointing as they had looked good with the bat before the DLS method was implemented in the game.

What time does Western Australia vs New South Wales start?

The match will start at 12:05 AEST on Saturday, October 1.

We are backing Western Australia to win this match and make it two wins from two. They looked good with both bat and ball against Victoria, and they will fancy their chances against a team they beat in the One-Day Cup final last year.
