Head to Head

The two sides met on September 25th as Western Australia ran out comfortable winners by five wickets.

Victoria Form

In the One-Day Cup, Victoria have managed to win just one of their opening two games. They claimed victory over New South Wales via the DLS method after battling to 158/3 in 29 overs after being set a revised target of 156 to win. Despite having to battle hard for every run, they were ultimately able to secure a comfortable seven wicket win.

In their second match, they battled to 274/9 in their 50 overs, but they struggled to take regular wickets, with Jonathan Merlo their best bowler with 2/47. Positively, Peter Handscomb starred with the bat, notching 93 from 110, but he needed more support from his teammates as they struggled their score.

Western Australia Form

Western Australia secured a five wicket win over Victoria in their first game courtesy of a Josh Philippe century. Not to be outdone D'Arcy short scored 90 from 113, while Andrew Tye secured figures of 4/54 with the ball. While the five wicket and 14 ball win was hardly a crushing win, the triumph put on full show how good Western Australia can be.

Their second match of the campaign saw Western Australia put New South Wales to the sword. They skittled their opponents for just 76 runs as Jhye Richardson took 4/24, with Jason Behrendorff snaring 3/17. Chasing 77 to win, Josh Philippe scored 37 not out from 46 to secure victory and see Western Australia make it two wins from two.

Verdict

We are backing Western Australia to win this match and make it three wins in a row. Victoria have looked very beatable this year, and we think they will be consigned to a second loss in three matches.
