Dolphins vs Warriors Preview, Predictions & Betting Advice

The Dolphins entertain the Warriors in the Momentum One Day Cup at the City Oval in Pietermaritzburg on Sunday.

The side from KwaZulu-Natal are dominating this year’s competition, thanks in part to the fine batting of Grant Roelofsen and Keshav Maharaj’s spin wizardry.

The last time the two sides met in the competition was in the semi-final in 2019. The Dolphins cruised to a 7-wicket win after bowling the Warriors out for just 119. Maharaj was the chief destroyer with the ball, take 4 wickets for the Dolphins.

Dolphins Form & News

Despite being in fine form, the Dolphins made hard work of their last victory, sneaking past the Cobras by 2 wickets after bowling their hosts out for 157 in Cape Town.

The season so far has been going great guns for batsman Grant Roelofsen and spinner Keshav Maharaj. Roelofsen has scored 333 runs at an average of 83.25, while Maharaj has taken 11 wickets at an average of 14.36.

The Dolphins currently sit on top of the standings with 4 wins from 5.

Warriors Form & News

The Warriors have not played in over a week, as their clash with the Knights in East London on 18 February was abandoned due to rain. They did win their match before that, though, downing the Lions by 6 wickets in Port Elizabeth on Valentine’s Day.

Sinethemba Qeshile top scored for the Warriors in that match with 66 – his best score of the season to date. Whether he carries that form forward remains to be seen, but the momentum from that clash may have been lost with over a week off.

Dolphins vs Warriors Head to Head

The Dolphins have won 2 of the last 3 ties with the Warriors. Their previous meeting in March 2019 saw the side from Durban ease to a 7-wicket win after skittling the Warriors out for just 119. The two matches before the last 3 were abandoned due to rain, and it looks like that may well happen again with rain forecast for Sunday in Pietermaritzburg.

Dolphins vs Warriors Betting Odds

The Dolphins are priced at $1.57 to win the match, while the Warriors are available at $2.37. The form of Grant Roelofsen makes him a strong favourite to top score for the hosts - and he is available at $4.50 to do so. The spin king that is Keshav Maharaj is available at $3.75 to take the most wickets for the Dolphins. Sinethemba Qeshile is priced at $5.00 to top score for the Warriors.

Dolphins vs Warriors Match Up

The Dolphins have been relentless in their pursuit of their first title since 2018. While the Warriors have themselves played some good cricket this season, the strength of both the batting and bowling lineups of the Dolphins will likely be too much for them to handle.
