Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Eliminator

The Royals have lost a lot of momentum with four straight defeats before their last match was abandoned. The Royal Challengers, on the other hand, are brimming with confidence, winning their last six in a row. This could be a game decided by form, and I am putting my money on a Royal Challengers Bengaluru win.

  • Rajasthan Royals have lost their last 4 completed matches (IPL)
  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won their last 6 matches (IPL)
  • Royal Challengers Bengaluru have won 7 of their last 10 matches against the Royals (IPL)
  • Rajasthan Royals have lost their last 3 matches away from home (IPL)

Head to Head

This will be the 29th match between the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. There have been 15 wins for Bengaluru and 13 wins for Rajasthan before this match.

Earlier in the season, when the sides met in Jaipur, the Royals won by six wickets. Virat Kohli’s 113 led the Royal Challengers to 183 for 3, but Jos Buttler’s 100 off 58 balls led the Royals to a six-wicket win achieved with five balls remaining.

Rajasthan Royals Form

The Rajasthan Royals ended the regular season third in the standings with 17 points, through eight wins and one abandoned match. They finished below the Sunrisers Hyderabad due to an inferior net run rate.

Their last match against the Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to rain, but four losses in a row before that were to blame for the Rajasthan side’s slide in the points tally.

Riyan Parag (531) and Sanju Samson (504) remain their best bets with the bat, considering their success this season. With the ball, Yuzvendra Chahal (17) has been their best bowler, but his form has dipped over the last few matches.

Rajasthan Royals Team News

Shimron Hetmyer’s injury return will be discussed, while Tom Kohler-Cadmore may get another game at the top.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Form

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru finished fourth in the standings with 14 points, the same as the three teams below, but with a better net run rate. That was achieved with six wins out of six coming into the playoffs.

Bengaluru needed to defeat Chennai in their last match with a fixed run rate in mind, and they did just that. The Royal Challengers are the only side in IPL history to lose and win six consecutive matches in the same campaign.

A chance to make it to the final will depend on Virat Kohli’s batting (708 runs), who’s had a stupendous season. Bowling has been inconsistent, but Yash Dayal (15 wickets) has been impressive in the last few weeks.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru Team News

There aren’t any injury concerns for Bengaluru, whose only concern would be Will Jacks vs. Glenn Maxwell.

Verdict

Rajasthan have themselves to blame, having lost a golden chance to finish in the top-two and thereby get two shots at making the final. They now have to pick up the pieces quickly, but the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are in some cracking form. I am going with thatand backing the Royal Challengers to win.
