Sydney Sixers vs Perth Scorchers Tips

The Sixers hold the slight edge in recent head to heads, the heavy defeat in Perth aside. With home advantage, they are tipped to win through to the final.

With Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone firing, I'm backing the Scorchers to have the highest opening partnership.

  • Sydney Sixers secured top spot with victory over Melbourne Stars in their final game.
  • Sydney Sixers have won 4 of their last 6 matches in BBL10.
  • Sydney Sixers have won 3 of their last 4 matches against Perth Scorchers.
  • Perth Scorchers have won 8 of their last 10 matches in BBL10.
  • Defeat in their final game to the Brisbane Heat cost the Scorchers top spot.
  • Perth Scorchers lost both games played at Manuka Oval in BBL10.

Head to Head

The Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers shared a win each in the BBL10 season.

The Scorchers won by 86 runs in a one-side game in Perth before the Sixers gained revenge with a seven wicket win in Canberra.

The Sixers have now won three of the last four head to heads against the Scorchers.

Sydney Sixers Form

Having led the BBL table for most of the season, the Sydney Sixers knew the task in hand before the faced the Melbourne Stars in the very last game of the BBL10 season.

After the Perth Scorchers had been beaten by Brisbane Heat earlier on Australia Day, the Sixers needed just the Bash Boost Point to qualify as top seeds and host this Qualifier.

The Sixers achieved the bonus point comfortably at the MCG and won the game to eliminate the Stars, who needed the bonus point win to qualify.

The Stars posted 177/6 with Ben Dwarshuis the pick of the bowlers with 3/27.

James Vince (46), Moises Henriques (38), Jordan Silk (35 not out) and Dan Christian (49 not out) all contributed as the Sixers won with a ball to spare.

Sixers Team News

The Sixers have a question mark over spinner Stephen O'Keefe, who was stiff fielding against the Stars on his return from injury.

Ben Manenti and Lloyd Pope will be on standby to step in.

Jackson Bird replaced Jake Ball in the starting line-up against the Stars. The Englishman, however, came into the game as an X-Factor replacement.

Perth Scorchers Form

Eight wins in nine games meant the Scorchers needed to win the final game of the season to finish at top seed and host this game in Perth.

But their luck ran out at the Adelaide Oval as they lost by six runs to a Brisbane Heat side which scraped into the finals on that back of that win.

Chris Lynn (51) and Marnus Labuschagne (46) helped the Heat to 181/7. Andrew Tye (2/23) and Jason Behrendorff (2/30) led the way with the ball for Perth.

A middle order collapse saw the Scorchers go from 91/2 to 94/5 and it cost them dearly as they fell six runs short. Runs from Jason Roy (41), Liam Livingstone (32) and Mitch Marsh (54 not out) was not enough.

Scorchers Team News

The Scorchers have a settled unit and will go in unchanged once again. Mitch Marsh will continue as a specialist batsman with a side strain preventing him from bowling.

The right to host the BBL10 final is at stake for the winner of Saturday's Qualifier. The Scorchers blew the chance to have home advantage in this game, and now face an uphill battle.

The Sixers have won three of the last four heads to heads including at Manuka Oval this season. That was one of two defeats at the venue for the Scorchers, who are tipped to go down away from home.
