Perth Scorchers Form & Team News
The Perth Scorchers currently hold seventh place on the Big Bash table with no wins from their first three matches. Their only points came from a rained out fixture.
Last time out the Scorchers suffered a seven wicket loss to the Sydney Thunder in Adelaide. Batting first the Scorchers reached 152 in their 20 overs. Mitchell Marsh scored 52 runs while Cameron Bancroft added 34 lower down the order.
The Scorchers managed to get the early wicket of Alex Hales but thereafter it the Thunder were reasonably comfortable throughout. They ended up winning with three balls to spare.
The main problem for the Scorchers has been scoring runs. They have a very good bowling lineup but they need more runs to play with. The likes of Colin Munro need to start finding the middle of the bat.
The Perth Scorchers should have Englishmen Jason Roy and Liam Livingston available for selection for this match.
Both players have had to endure a 14-day quarantine period which is now complete.
Adelaide Strikers Form & Team News
The Adelaide Strikers are fifth in the table with two wins and two losses. They have not yet been able to get some momentum but will look to turn the corner on Monday.
The Strikers did manage to win their last match by 2 runs against the Brisbane Heat in Brisbane. Batting first Matt Renshaw top scored with 32 runs while Jonathan Wells scored 31, Harry Nielsen 28 and Phil Salt 25.
That is where the issue lies for the Adelaide Strikers – batsmen are getting in but not scoring big runs. Their total of 150 runs was below par but a brilliant bowling effort early on saw the Heat struggling on 68-8.
The match looked won and the Strikers started bowling like that as well. Jimmy Peirson almost made them pay with 69 runs off 36 balls but fortunately the Heat fell two runs short.
Much like the Scorchers, the Strikers have a very good bowling lineup, spearheaded by Peter Siddle and Rashid Khan. But they need their batsmen to start getting runs.
The Adelaide Strikers will be hoping captain Alex Carey is available for selection. He missed the last match but is due back for this one.
