Josh Inglis has had a dream summer to date, being named the captain of Australia’s T20I squad and fill in ODI squad. He has been the in form batsman in Australia in all forms and will have an impressive start to BBL14.

Perth Scorchers Form

Perth’s attempt for a three-peat failed, but honourably last season, especially if you consider the fact that captain Ashton Turner missed most of the season with a knee injury.

Perth finished third in the standings and fell short against the Adelaide Strikers at home at Optus Stadium in the knockout. Where the Scorchers fell short last season was depth in their batting lineup, but they addressed that in the offseason.

Big hitting Kiwi Flynn Allen was locked up before the draft and his ability to add runs with Aaron Hardie and the latest T20 Australian captain Josh Inglis should see the Scorchers for another BBL title this season.

Melbourne Stars Form

The Melbourne Stars had a horrendous start to BBL13 but pulled it together around Christmas to give them a shot, however it all fell to pieces again and they finished sixth and missed the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

The Stars were active in the offseason in a push to return to their former glory in the BBL, bringing in the experience of Tom Curren, who has taken 51 wickets in the league, filling part of the hole of an ordinary bowling attack last season.

The Stars had the No. 1 pick in the draft and brought in Ben Ducket, the England opener, in an attempt to ensure that they start matches better than they did last season, relying on middle-order batsmen Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, who also committed to another two years in Melbourne.
