Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Stars Tips

Perth Scorchers will want to return to winning ways after suffering a surprise loss in their last match. They are backed to get the better of the inconsistent Stars.

  • Perth Scorchers have won 6 of their last 7 BBL matches.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Colin Munro has scored 58* & 64 runs in his last 2 BBL matches.
  • Perth Scorchers’ Mitchell Marsh has scored 42+ runs in 3 of his last 5 BBL matches.
  • Melbourne Stars’ Joe Clarke has scored 52 & 85 runs in his last 2 BBL matches.

Head to Head

Over their last four matches the Scorchers and Stars have won two each. This is their first meeting of the season.

Last season the Perth Scorchers won their last match by 11 runs.

Perth Scorchers Form

The Perth Scorchers have been the form team so far this season and top the table. They have won six of their seven matches with their only defeat coming last time out against Sydney Thunder.

Matthew Kelly bowled well for the Scorchers, taking 3-30 but the others bowlers were less effective as the Thunder went on to score 200 runs in Canberra. It was always going to be a tough chase with the Scorchers eventually falling 34 runs short on 166.

Colin Munro scored 64 off 43 balls while Andrew Tye added 44 late on. The in-form Mitchell Marsh failed to get going for a change.

Perth Scorchers Team News

Cameron Bancroft was dropped in the last match but Josh Inglis got a first ball duck as his replacement. Still, the Scorchers won’t be looking to change too much given their great form.

Squad: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Laurie Evans, Aaron Hardie, Peter Hatzoglou, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kelly, Mitch Marsh, Tymal Mills, Lance Morris, Colin Munro, Kurtis Patterson, Jhye Richardson (David Moody), Aston Turner, Andrew Tye

Melbourne Stars Form

The Melbourne Stars have been extremely inconsistent this season with three wins and three defeats. They are still well within reach of a playoff birth though.

The Stars have failed to win back-to-back this season but they did win their last match. Joe Clarke smashed 85 off 44 balls and Hilton Cartwright 79 off 44 balls to lead the Stars to a commanding 207-run total against the Brisbane Heat.

On a flat pitch the Heat put pressure on the Stars bowlers but in the end Qais Ahmad’s 3-26 was enough to secure a 20-run victory.

Melbourne Stars Team News

The coaching staff will be frustrated with how inconsistent the team is performing. The main reason for that is that the big players are not showing any sort of form with Marcus Stoinis, Joe Burns, Glenn Maxwell and Andre Russell failing in the last match.

Squad: Qais Ahmad, Joe Burns, Hilton Cartwright, Joe Clarke, Brody Couch, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Sam Elliott, Syed Faridoun, Liam Hatcher, Clint Hinchcliffe, Nick Larkin, Glenn Maxwell, Peter Nevill, Tom O’Connell, Sam Rainbird, Marcus Stoinis, Beau Webster, Adam Zampa, Haris Rauf (from December 27), Andre Russell (five games from December 10), Ahmed Daniyal (from December 10)
