Perth Scorchers vs Melbourne Renegades Predictions
With both teams struggling I'm looking at the run scoring markets for value. Jason Roy has begun his Scorchers season well while Shaun Marsh's form has been superb for the Renegades.
- Perth Scorchers’ Jason Roy scored 49 runs in his last BBL match.
- Perth Scorchers’ Mitchell Marsh has scored 38 & 52 in 2 of his last 3 BBL matches.
- Melbourne Renegades have lost 5 of their last 6 BBL matches.
- Melbourne Renegades’ Shaun Marsh has scored 87 & 67 runs in his last 2 matches.
Head to Head
The Melbourne Renegades have won three of their last five matches against the Perth Scorchers. That includes a seven wicket win in the early stages of this season’s Big Bash.
Perth Scorchers Form
The Perth Scorchers have lost three of their five matches thus far with one win and a rained out fixture. They are third from bottom and need to get into some winning form if they want to make the playoffs.
The Scorchers got their first win in their last outing against the Adelaide Strikers in Adelaide. After restricting the Strikers to 146 runs thanks to Jhye Richardson’s brilliant bowling figures of 3-19, the chase was reasonably simple.
Jason Roy found some form with 49 runs of 32 balls to get the Scorchers off to a good start. Josh Inglis batted well for his 44 while Mitchell Marsh ended unbeaten on 38 runs.
It was a comfortable seven wicket win for the Scorchers with more than two overs to spare.
Scorchers Team News
Jason Roy has had an immediate impact scoring 21 and 49 runs in his first two matches. Liam Livingstone has not had quite the same impact but he is likely to retain his place for this match.
The Scorchers still have one of the better bowling attacks in the competition so we shouldn’t see many changes to their side.
Melbourne Renegades Form
The Melbourne Renegades still only have the one win this season and sit bottom of the BBL table.
Their last match saw them lose to the Sydney Thunder on the D/L method, which the Renegades will feel slightly aggrieved by. Luck has not fallen their way this season.
The Renegades batted first, scoring 166 which looked a decent total. Shaun Marsh batted superbly for his 87 runs, but again the middle order failed to back him up.
Sydney Thunder got off to a flying start but the Renegades had pulled it back by the time the rain came. At that point the Thunder were on 117-2, six runs ahead on the D/L method.
Unfortunately the rain kept falling so the Thunder took an eight wicket victory.
Renegades Team News
In Aaron Finch and Shaun Marsh the Melbourne Renegades have two in-form batsmen at the top of the order. Unfortunately below them no one seems to be able to score consistent runs.
On the bowling front we could see James Prestwidge come into the side.
