Perth Scorchers vs Brisbane Heat Tips
The Perth Scorchers have dominated this fixture in recent seasons. My best bet is for them to continue that domination with a win here.
- Perth Scorchers have won 4 of their last 5 matches against the Brisbane Heat.
- Perth Scorchers’ Colin Munro was the 5th highest BBL run scorer last season.
- Brisbane Heat lost their last match.
- Brisbane Heat’s Ben Duckett top scored with 46 runs in the last match.
Head to Head
Perth Scorchers have won four of their last five matches against the Brisbane Heat. When they met in BBL10 the Scorchers won by 49 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method.
Perth Scorchers Form
This will be the Scorchers first outing of the Big Bash this season. Last season the Perth Scorchers ended as runner-up to the Sydney Sixers after a seven wicket loss in the final.
The Scorchers are arguably the most successful BBL franchise having won the competition a joint most three times. They have also been the losing finalist on three separate occasions.
With their last title coming back in the 2016-17 season, the Scorchers will be keen to replicate last season, and perhaps even go one better.
Perth Scorchers Team News
The Perth Scorchers have lost the English duo Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone this season. There will be a reliance on captain and hero of Australia’s T20 World Cup triumph, Mitchell Marsh.
Squad: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cooper Connolly, Laurie Evans, Aaron Hardie, Peter Hatzoglou, Nick Hobson, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kelly, Mitch Marsh, Tymal Mills, Lance Morris, Colin Munro, Kurtis Patterson, Jhye Richardson (David Moody), Aston Turner, Andrew Tye
Brisbane Heat Form
The Brisbane Heat got their season underway in Canberra just a few days ago. Unfortunately the match against the Sydney Thunder ended in a seven wicket defeat.
Batting first, Ben Duckett top scored with 46 runs while Sam Heazlett contributed 42 runs. No one else truly contributed as the Heat ended on 140 in their 20 overs.
On a good batting wicket it was always going to be hard to defend that total. The Thunder ended up cruising to a seven wicket win with just under three overs to spare.
Brisbane Heat Team News
The Heat lost their opener but will in all likelihood give the players another chance. There may well be a few changes but with a full bill of health, the key players will remain.
Squad: Tom Abell, Xavier Bartlett, James Bazley, Max Bryant, Tom Cooper, Ben Duckett, Liam Guthrie, Sam Heazlett, Matt Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne (Nathan McSweeney), Chris Lynn, Michael Neser (Cameron Gannon), Jimmy Pierson, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Will Prestwidge, Mark Steketee, Mitchell Swepson (Hugo Burdon), Jack Wildermuth
