Head to Head

These two sides have won eight times each in 16 previous meetings. The Perth Scorchers have won four of the last six matches, but have dropped the last two to the Melbourne Stars.

The Stars won both meetings last season with an eight-wicket victory followed by a 10-run win. This is the first clash this season after the reverse fixture was washed out.

Melbourne Stars Form

The Melbourne Stars continue to be inconsistent with Glenn Maxwell's side throwing away victory over the Melbourne Renegades on Wednesday.

The Stars looked poised to record a sixth win of the campaign after posting 158/6. Nick Larkin (61 not out) and Marcus Stoinis (37) were key with the bat.

With the Renegades reduced to 15/2 and 97/5 with just 4.3 overs remaining, the game was the Stars' to lose. But that was what they did as wayward bowling cost them.

Mackenzie Harvey (47 not out from 21 balls) and Beau Webster (22 not out from 9 balls) sealed a dramatic victory for the Renegades.

Stars Team News

Nathan Coulter-Nile returned from injury in the last game and took 3/41, although he was disappointing with his death bowling.

Fellow quick Liam Hatcher could be rested after he was also expensive in the closing overs. Billy Stanlake is expected to come back into the Stars attack.

Perth Scorchers Form

Perth Scorchers are on a roll, notching a seventh win in their last eight games on Friday with a 22-run victory over Hobart Hurricanes.

Since losing to Sydney Sixers three games back, the Scorchers have thumped the Brisbane Heat by 59 runs at Manuka Oval and defeated the Hurricanes at Marvel Stadium.

Every department of the Scorchers side is firing with Josh Inglis (58) top scoring this time in 179/8 against the Hurricanes.

Jhye Richardson continued his hot form with the ball. His 4/33 helped limit Hobart to 157/8 in the run chase.

Scorchers Team News

The Scorchers will not be tweaking a winning line-up. Mitch Marsh returned as a specialist batsman against the Hurricanes with Cameron Bancroft dropping down to the bench.
